Homemade Red velvet Cake Recipe

Ingredients

·2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

· 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar

·1 tsp baking soda

Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare two 9-inch cake pans by greasing and flouring them.

      2.In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cocoa powder.

      3.In a large bowl, beat together the vegetable oil, buttermilk, eggs, red food coloring,vanilla extract, and white vinegar until well combined.


4.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

5.Divide the batter evenly between the two prepared cake ans and smooth the tops with a spatula.

6.Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

7.Allow the cakes to cool in their pans for 10 minutes, then remove them from the pans and place them on a wire rack to cool completely.

8.Once the cakes are completely cool, frost them with the cream cheese frosting.

Cream Cheese Frosting Ingredients

·  8 oz cream cheese, softened

· 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

· 4 cups powdered sugar

· 1 tsp vanilla extract

· Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1.In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and butter together until smooth and creamy.

  2.Gradually add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until well combined.

  3.Beat the frosting for an additional 2-3 minutes, or until light and fluffy.


4.Use the frosting to frost the cooled cake layers, stacking one on top of the other.

5.Decorate the cake with additional frosting, if desired.
